Due to the critical shortage of healthcare professionals in Maui County after the COVID pandemic, STEMworks is working with local healthcare organizations to create new opportunities for Maui County students to learn more about a wide variety of healthcare careers directly from healthcare professionals.
As one of the fastest-growing industries in Maui County, the healthcare sector is an excellent, stable career pathway for Maui County’s youth interested in both STEM and community service.
We expect to offer at least four Healthcare Exploration Day events for Maui County K-12 public school students in the Spring 2025 semester. Past Healthcare Exploration events have included a wide variety of both presentations and hands-on activities, including an emergency room demonstration, lessons on how to use a tourniquet, and in-depth discussions about the warning signs of strokes.
